You do great damage out in the world until you get into the abyss and realize you don't do as much as you thought. It's not too difficult beating level 50 world bosses with level 40 characters. You mentioned that you want to beat the Cryo Plant with Xiangling, Lisa, Barbara and Amber. Luckily all of the boss's movements have a significant windup and (almost all) moves can be dodged with dashes.
Raise the Character of your choice to their current max level. 2. Select the Character screen from the Menu. 3. Enlarge. Go to Attributes and select or press the Ascend button. 4. Enlarge. Confirm the required materials, then select Ascend. For exp materials, farm blue ley lines. They'll help you level characters up. It'll take some time but you'll get there. If you think it's taking too long to get the entire team levelled up, just do the one or two characters that are mostly on the field first and then for convenience keep the rest a few levels lower, at most 10 levels.
